NEW BALANCE
MATERIAL DEVELOPMENT

I worked as a Domestic Materials Development Intern on the Made in the USA Product Development team at New Balance from December 2017 - November 2018. Made in USA footwear contains a domestic value of 70% or more based on labor and materials.

Elevated Basics 997 Made in USA: I created a board of material options for footwear designers as inspiration following marketing briefs. In this shoe, the denim and leathers selected came from my board.

Un-dyed 997 Made in USA: The story of this shoe was one of less processing. I developed un-dyed pigskin nubuck leather, un-dyed cotton textile, and an un-dyed vegetable tanned leather.

SuperFabric Pack Made in USA [997 and 998]: SuperFabric makes a specialty resin-coated textile that is durable and abrasion resistant, yet flexible and lightweight. I helped to set them up as a new supplier for New Balance, and I developed three custom textiles using their resin patterns.
