CONVERSE HQ FASHION
DESIGN CHALLANGE

Design Challenge: While enrolled in a Fashion Design I course, my class was presented a design challenge set by the Converse design team: to design a five-look apparel collection for the Converse consumer in New England.

Color and Materials Design: I researched the Converse consumer and chose to design a fall back-to-school collection for a female consumer ages 14-17. I felt this consumer wanted easy-to-wear, everyday pieces that reflected current trends and Converse's casually rebellious spirit. I referenced popular runway color and print trends, such as including the color oxblood and buffalo plaid. With regard to New England weather, I added shearling details and accessories for warmth. I also used the Converse star logo throughout the collection to reinforce branding.

Design Process: I illustrated my final designs in watercolor paint and colored pencil, hand-drew flat sketches, and presented my work to the class and to a representative from Converse.

Competition Results: My work was both voted the Best in Class by my peers, and voted the Best in Class by the design team at Converse, for which I received a free pair of sneakers and a tour of their Global Headquarters in North Andover, Massachusetts.
