In my ceramics class at Skidmore College, I was given the assignment to make something within the theme of "Containment". My mind went to methods of containing the body, and I decided to see if I could make a ceramic corset. I used a slab construction technique and cut a pattern into clay. By leaving this piece with no back but loops on the side, I was able to lace it up and make it a wearable ceramic piece.
